Most of the portraits created by Renoir have very simple backgrounds, he placed the represented objects in an empty environment, as if I wouldn't want the complicated background to take away the protagonist's attraction. In this portrait, Madame Henriot looks at the viewer with her hands folded in her lap and a calm expression. Viewers seem to be able to enter the situation at that moment from the painting: Madame is sitting there, silently waiting for Renoir to finish the painting. The dress the lady is wearing is light and transparent. The ability to successfully depict the tulle texture of clothing is due to the technique Renoir learned when painting porcelain in his early days. Renoir is used to applying impressionistic techniques to the clothing and background of the characters, the soft tones and pure colors make the image filled with a feeling of fog and mist. But what is interesting is that his interpretation of the characters' faces is very detailed, thus forming a subtle contrast. The viewer is unconsciously drawn to the lady's delicate face.
