Louveciennes road in the snow. Painted in 1869-1870; oil on canvas; 55cm×65cm; particular collection. The image is different from the work done at Frog Pond not far away in the summer of the previous year. Although the painting is smaller, its level of delicacy is higher than that of the Frog Pond studio. His rich and delicate brushwork shows that until now, Monet has been able to express the texture of various natural settings with a stroke of brush strokes. The use of different brush strokes in the same painting was seen as a method of quickly recording different natural scenes. At the same time, this method was also adopted by Pissarro and Sisley, and gradually became the main feature of early Impressionist paintings. During the same winter, Pissarro and Sisley also painted in Louvicien, and both Pissarro and Monet chose to depict the same path, but Pissarro painted the painting in the rain instead of the snow (Stirling and Francine Clark Art Gallery, Williamstown, Massachusetts) . Space and atmosphere in Monet's paintings are represented by the dominant color with subtle color shifts, but in Monet's early sun-drenched images, it is presented by bold blocks of color.
