Painting background

The woman in this painting "Jealousy" is called Dagny Juel. She is also from Norway and had a relationship with Munch. But it's different from Milly and Dora. In addition to meeting Munch, she also had a relationship with the Swedish writer Strindberg. and the Polish poet and pianist Przebyakovsky are ambiguous. Norwegian sculptor Gustav Vigeland also wanted to take Dagny from Munch, but the two had a dispute over this and Vigeland smashed Munch's sculpture in anger. In this painting, Munch portrayed himself and Dagny together, standing under the apple tree looking like Adam and Eve, while Przebykovsky showed a jealous and depressed expression in the foreground of the painting. In fact, Dagny eventually ended up in Przybykovsky's arms after changing hands several times, and they were married in 1893. This beauty was eventually shot dead by jealous Russians, which became sensational tragic news.
