Painting background

The seven sages of the bamboo forest were a group of philosophers, poets and musicians of the qingtan (pure conversation) current of Chinese Taoism from the 3rd century, at the beginning of the Jin dynasty.

They get their name from the legend that says that they gathered in the shade of a bamboo grove away from the court to recite and compose poetry and enjoy music and drink. Although its members existed and it is likely that some knew each other, it is disputed whether the group is fictitious as such and whether they really met as tradition claims.

The seven sages, or the symbol they represent, have been very influential in poetry, music, art, and Chinese culture in general.

3. This product only contains printed paper, or canvas, or foil. Does not include outer frame or wall hanging parts. Please note when purchasing: If you need white card stock, the frame you choose should be 5cm larger than the size of the print on the sides.
