Description

Painting background

Van Gogh's Pink Rose is mentioned in the book on the history of pigments, which was discovered in the 1990s to have "probably very vivid traces of red, whereas the rose itself was once pink", because Van Gogh used fade-prone fake pigments that have now turned white, and even the painting's title is just "Pink."

Van Gogh's use of color is often rich and vibrant, and the pink roses seem more in keeping with his usual style, and it is true that Van Gogh lived in poverty and that the painting might have been adulterated.

It is unlikely that a Van Gogh media painter would have used expensive mineral pigments and cadmium-based colors; Alternative organic pigments in tubes had been invented in the early 19th century and were used by most of the poorer Impressionist boys of the time, who, after all, would have scorned the Academy's rigid demands on the use of materials. . It was the educated painters who had the means, along with assistants, to help them grind their paintings by hand. So it is clear that the paintings of the richest academics or painters are better preserved. This is due, firstly, to the fact that they had good materials and, secondly, to the fact that their painting methods were more gradual, two important aspects to improve the durability of the painting.

According to the latest research, X-ray analysis, the painting used by Van Gogh has holes. Van Gogh's masterpiece Sunflowers is full of dazzling yellows. In fact, many of the Impressionist painters of the time used a vibrant and striking chrome yellow pigment to color their paintings. However, after a while, some areas of the yellow pigment in many of the paintings turned brown, and only recently have scientists solved this serious art preservation problem: after identifying a complex chemical reaction, scientists have discovered that the yellow browning was indeed caused by daylight and caused by a bright white pigment. The study is published in the latest issue of the journal Analytical Chemistry.
