In 1909, Munch returned to his hometown, Norway, from the psychiatric hospital in Copenhagen. At first he lived in the town of Kragler, on the southeast coast of Norway, where Munch showed more interest in nature, landscape, people and nature, work, horses and plows are harmoniously represented in bright, clear colors. Through a new and spontaneous brushstroke, he transmits a harsh and sensual tribute to the sun, air and earth.
